double trouble

this weekend, i have two speaking engagements on (hence the title). i'm doing a session on friendship for an SCF in rawang, and speaking at a YF (youth fellowship) in seremban.

the main worry now is the latter; the person-in-charge informed me yesterday that it's a free topic. so, i have to crack my head about what to speak on!

really, i wonder why SCFs and YFs like to give free topics. 'let's just invite speakers and let the talk about whatever they want!'... it just doesn't seem (to me) to be the most effective or systematic way to build up the faith and understanding of the young people in their care.

anyhow, please pray for and with me as i go and interact with the youths in these two settings. and pray especially for inspiration about what to talk about at the YF. thanks! =)

i think sometimes its because they can't come up with a topic but they know the speaker well and trust him to speak with the Holy Spirit's leading! Having been at more than one planning retreat, I guess you know how that feels:-)

thanks gang =) the sessions went well, thank God. i ended up doing a reflection-time kinda thingy where i helped em take stock of the last 6-7 months, listen for what God has been trying to tell them in this period of time, and look ahead to the end of 2007.

so sis, what should i do about rodrigo and his ilk? the comment is actually in portugese u know. went to babelfish to translate it. some nonsense about personalized t-shirts.

Log in to Blogger.com and delete it lor... You are the blog owner and you have the admin rights over your blog what. I delete this stuff all the time from my blog. No point letting it sit there like an eyesore.

i think since this is the first ever, i'll just leave it there la. for memories, u know. and also ppl will wonder why i'm babbling about rodrigo and portugese in my last comment, if i delete it. but, if any more such messages appear, i'll know what to do. =)

Hey Jin,
Maybe you can start your own series...like Church History and lessons we can learn from it, Christians: the issues that surrounds us and our approach( abortion, war, injustice, social responsibility, environmental issue, etc.), How to interpret the scriptures.

thanks for the suggestions guojeng... will see wat i can do.

you are welcome...other ideas include..a series on great modern missionaries, or you can do series about liturgy from around the world

well, i did a session once about jim elliot... "He is no fool, who gives what he cannot keep, to gain that which he cannot lose."

haven't done any others though... and have never thought of doing anything faintly liturgical...

At least a sermon on liturgy...would be musical and you can sing bits and pieces here:)
..well you can do about Amy carmichael...who wasn't sure of her call and was kicked from Japan to china until she reached India..and where she felt her call...then ask people to go out instead of just waiting in their comfort zone for the call..
