the camps are over, hallelujah

greetings! =)

i haven't blogged in AGES... and now so many things have happened, i dunno where to start... heheh

in order not to bore you all, i'll just give short-short updates on each camp... thank you so much to all of you who have supported me in prayer. you're part of the reason why i'm still alive and (relatively) healthy now... =)

1. NSCF Leader's Camp
- my responsibilities were carried out without mishap! truly thank God for His sustaining grace.
- i really enjoyed leading my group, chrysolite! i think we bonded well, became good friends, and were able to share our lives with each other in those few days of camp.
- on the second day of camp, i injured my left knee. i was doing a layup (that's a basketball thingy where you run and jump and put the ball into the hoop) and suddenly found myself rolling on the floor in quite abit of pain.
- subsequent attempts to run found the knee ok when bent but unstable when extended. since then i haven't tried to run, hoping that it will heal with rest. doctor says that it's probably a partial tear to the anterior cruciate ligament (hope i spelt that right). am going for physiotherapy later today, and have an appointment in january to see if surgery is needed.

2. Young Writers' Camp
- alicia, you asked for this so... here it is =P
- in this year's YWC, each small group functioned like a small media company which produced a daily A3-sized news-sheet.
- the camp schedule was pretty packed. we had outdoor assignments; interviews with a hunter, a security guard, an exotic foods restaurant owner, and a fish farmer; a caving adventure in Gua Kandu; a movie screening; and a mock press conference with Malaysian care. all of these things became news.
- campers were also given plenty of opportunity to be creative. some created news stories about imaginary campers, and others interviewed the dogs or inanimate objects like toilet paper (which incidentally, was the name of my group's paper, hahaha!)
- i'm not really a writer. real writers don't write blog posts in point form (this is an overgeneralisation but i hope u know what i mean). so, if you're really interested in how YWC went, check out the links from ethan's blog here, here, here, and here. they're all better writers than me =)

3. dNa
- i'm getting tired of typing this blog post, so suffice to say that all went well =)

and now... camps are finally over. i've had some time to relax and recuperate, and am now trying to finish up my master's assignments which are due in january.

btw, just an interesting note: i'm typing this blog post standing up at a free internet kiosk outside the bahagian pengurusan akademik which is in between the fakulti sains sosial dan kemanusiaan and kolej dato onn in universiti kebangsaan malaysia! what am i doing at my alma mater? i came here with The Wife, who registers for her masters today. =)

alright, that's all for now. wishing all of you a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year! =D
